You took my only food. Now I’m gonna starve >:(

The big changes this patch are to items! Namely a reduction to the frequency that rations heal, and new visualizations to help clarify when held items are activating. We also made a few adjustments to Mechid now that Iron Fist’s stun is working properly.

Gameplay Changes

  • Added visualizations for held item activation.

Balance changes

Rations

  • Increased time between heals from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.

Shovlet

  • Increased Quicksand’s cooldown from 6 seconds to 9 seconds.

  • Reduced end lag on Rush.

Mechid

  • Reduced Iron Fist’s Stun from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.

  • Reduced Mecha Strike’s damage from 60 to 45.

  • Adjusted Iron Fist collider to be more accurate to the shape of the attack (more adjustments to the accuracy of this attack are still needed).

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue that allowed characters to become invincible at unintended times.

  • Corrected incorrect descriptions on the abilities Ruminate and Meditate

Sometimes great things come in small packages!
This patch might be short of the number of changes, but the long-awaited improvements to character and ability positioning should make a world of difference! This also isn’t the final version of these systems. We’ll continue making improvements to ability and character positioning throughout the server roll out and alpha as a whole.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed several issues related to ability accuracy, resulting in less desync across the board. Abilities should connect and deal damage more reliably now.

  • Made major improvements to character positioning. Opponents should no longer slingshot across the map, regardless of their movements or connection quality.

  • Fixed a bug that caused several items to not activate, or activate on the wrong party member.

We’ve got a fresh batch of updates for you this weekend! Decaf for some, espresso for others… This patch hopes to reduce the effectiveness of “bunny hopping” as well as increase the effectiveness of some of the less played characters.

The dev team is still hard a work on improvements to hit detection and rubber banding. In the mean time, consider trying these changes out and let us know how they feel!

Gameplay Changes

  • Jumping now costs a small amount of stamina.

  • Stamina now regenerates faster for all characters.

  • Officially named two of our most beloved characters.

Balance changes

Movement Speed

  • Reduced Skulken’s movement speed slightly.

  • Increased Kodoki’s movement slightly more.

Buff Cool Downs

  • Increased Armor Up’s cooldown from 5 to 8.

  • Increased Growth’s cooldown from 5 to 8.

  • Increased Fortify’s cooldown from 5 to 8.

  • Increased Meditate’s cooldown from 5 to 8.

  • Increased Sharpen’s cooldown from 5 to 8.

UI CHANGES

  • When you match with another player, a message will be displayed and all other menus will be locked. This should prevent a matchmaking error we saw previously.

  • Added a notice after a match that recommends restarting the client. This is a temporary fix while we work on a permanent solution.

ARENA FIXES

  • Added colliders to trees in the Riverside Arena that were previously missing them. Attacks and Kinfolk should no longer be able to pass through trees.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue with the homing reticle that caused it to freeze up and become stuck on the screen.

  • Fixed several instances that would cause a crash. (Thank you all for sending Log files!)

  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to become invincible for an extended period of time.

  • Fixed an issue that caused Embear’s model to become low poly while sleeping.

Combat Arena: Alpha 1.02 Patch Notes

Alright whos not dead? Sound off.

Whether its losing two party members back to back from a single explosion, getting one shot by a 4x damage boosted Slyphur, or getting DC’d from your game due to momentary connection loss, this patch aims to help you stay alive.

While there are some fairly significant changes here, the dev team is still well aware of even more significant issues that continue to hamper gameplay, such as attack and character position desync. We’re getting closer to solutions for these issues, and hope to have fixes ready within the next two patches.

Gameplay Changes

  • Characters now play their full KO animation when their health is reduced to 0.

  • When a new party member is brought out after the previous one is defeated, they are given 3 seconds of invincibility. This invincibility will not end early due to any actions taken by either player.

  • Player Score gain and loss is now capped at +50 and -50 respectively.

  • Players are now given 15 seconds to reconnect to the server instead of 5. This should result fewer instances where players are disconnected from matches due to momentarily high ping.

  • Prevented dodging while aiming attacks that have multiple charges (we will likely revisit this change in future patches).

Balance changes

  • Reduced stat scaling per-stage across all characters:

    From: 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4 to 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.25, 2.5

Ui changes

  • The names and titles of both players are now displayed beside the Round Won indicators.

  • Updated the descriptions of several items to more accurately describe their effects.

  • Updated the beginning and end of round info text and fonts.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue that caused the camera to momentarily zoom in after being hit by Gaia Volley.

  • Fixed several crash exceptions.

  • Reduced the packet size of data being sent to and from the server. This should result in lower ping times and smoother matches overall, due to a reduction in the number of dropped packets.
