1. What are the monsters in this game called?

The monsters in our game are called "Kinfolk."

2. Aren't you going to get a cease and desist from Nintendo?

No. In the same way that Dark Souls and Nioh are games in the same genre, so are Kindred and Pokemon. This game and everything in it is our own original IP. We aren't infringing on anyone's copyright, so there's no reason we would receive a cease and desist.

3. What platforms will this be released on?

The game will be release on PC. Depending on the success of our Kickstarter, we may also be able to release on Switch, Playstation and Xbox!

4. Is combat real time, or turn based?

The game has been built with real time combat in mind. We are open to the idea of including turn based combat as an option though for players who prefer it. It is currently one of the stretch goals for our Kickstarter.

5. Will the be character customization?

Yes!

6. Will there be legendary Kinfolk?

There are, and they will have a large impact on the game's story!

7. Are there any Kinfolk that are off limits?

Depending on how you play the game, every Kinfolk you encounter can be added to your team. More details on this later.

8. Will this game have online features?

Yes! This is a story-driven single player game first and foremost, but you will have the ability to trade and battle with your friends.(edited)

9. What time period does this game take place in?

The game is set in the modern era. For the most part, it's the same as the real world but with the addition of Kinfolk.

10. This game looks darker and more mature than Pokemon. I don't like that.

Not a question, but we get that a lot. Many of us who grew up with Pokemon hoped that it would mature as we did. Our game's visuals are a reflection of its themes. If you don't enjoy thought-provoking storytelling, antagonists with a sympathetic cause, compelling character development, morally ambiguous decisions, or living with the consequences of your actions, then there are plenty of great Pokemon games you can play!

11. When does the Kickstarter campaign start?

The Kickstarter will launch in January of 2020.

12. Will there be a backer tier for designing Kinfolk to be added to the game?

As one of the highest tier kickbacks, yes. Though there will be a limited number of these, and you can expect the cost to be quite high. Concepting, modeling, and fully animating playable characters isn't cheap.

13. This Kickstarter is a scam, right? You're going to take our money and run.

We're here to make a game, not money. The only reason we're going to Kickstarter is because it's simply not possible for us to fund a game of this scale on our own. We hope you'll hold us to the same level of integrity that you would companies like CD Projekt Red and Naughty Dog, who we look up to immensely.

14. How many team members do you have?

Currently we have 3 developers, 2 writers, and 10 artists of various skill sets on our team.

15. Where are you guys from?

Skymill is based out of Columbus Ohio, but we have team members all over the world.

16. Can I help?

We take the feedback and suggestions we receive in our Discord very seriously! Being active in #content-requests or #art-contributions is the fastest way you can contribute. If you're looking for a greater level of involvement, feel free to send us an email at Skymillstudios@gmail.com with a copy of your resume or portfolio!
